Nenana Wellness Coalition

August 6, 2019

The Nenana Wellness Coalition is an alliance of representatives from various organizations, government agencies, community groups and individuals that meets weekly to discuss and help implement plans for improving the wellness and quality of life in Nenana


We had 6 participants this week for WIN, including Bonnie Reed, Rosemary Allen, Laura Hokenson, Magen Spencer, Amie Verhagen and Tim Horn. We enjoyed chili, cheese with crackers and assorted nuts.

Envisioning Wellness: Josh’s will need to reschedule his book reading for WIN.


Krisi Dugan will be doing a presentation called, Simple Tools for Healing PTSD, Anxiety and Depression, and more.


The Autism Research Center will tentatively doing a present at for WIN on August 27, 2019.


An idea to ask the new Alaska State Trooper for Nenana to do a presentation.


Restorative Justice: Amie Verhagen and Tim Horn will be going to a restorative justice training here soon for the peacemaking circle.  After they get back they will schedule the next meeting. Either they will focus talking to the circle about what they learned or designing another mock circle before implementing another.  Once the manual is created it should be easier to come up with the resolution and have it written in a document.

Amie: The city council meeting will be Monday, August 12, 2019.

Rosemary: Dancing in the Streets is September 13, 2019 at the Civic Center.

Magen: No Updates

Laura: Will be gone the last two weeks of August.

Maryellen: Is working with Frank Yaska from TCC to potentially do a skit for the event.

PINK members are interviewing to be teen ambassadors.

Bonnie: August 17, 2019 is the Veterans Sandown in Fairbanks. The first part is for clothing’s, the second part is for legal advice, dental screening, etc. This event is at Pioneer Park.

August 18, 2019 is the back to school backpack blessing at St. Marks at 11am during their service.
Amie: Josh’s new book of Ernie the Ermin is now on amazon! They have been successful at selling their books. They have been on the Fairbanks Alaska Newspaper and the Muskreet Newspaper.
