The Nenana Wellness Coalition is an alliance of representatives from various organizations, government agencies, community groups and individuals that meets weekly to discuss and help implement plans for improving the wellness and quality of life in Nenana Alaska.

Envisioning Wellness Presentation IGAP: Daniel Marks
IGAP stands for Indian General Assistance Program; it’s an environmental program. They will be hiring people this summer, but not there yet. They look for programs to deal with trash, recycling, clean-up, hazardous waste and how to handle things such as oil spills and other chemicals, all around job safety, and doing things like successfully empting trashed cars for pick up and disposal. There are a few upcoming projects this summer and building relationship with the city to work on solution involving trash pick-up. The position is federally funded through EPA and that is also who they report to. Position also looks to create new ideas for the disposal of trash, chemicals, and other materials that could be harmful to environment.

Bonnie: Golden Valley will give away flowering shrub Rosarugosa on May 10th after 8:30am. May 18th Ted Suckling memorial @ 1pm at Civic Center.
Tim: Last Friday Kelly Burk had first language night at rec center. Family language night will be every other week on Fridays at the rec at 6pm. WACKO games at school at 8:30-11am tomorrow. Quarterly meeting this Friday Village Pride Safety meeting at 6:30pm at tribal hall. Wednesday the 15th spring concert at 6:30; may 17th fun sun run and clean up day; Nenana Ice classic annual meeting May 21st at Civic Center. Monday the 20th will be last children’s class at rec. Envisioning wellness will be Hospice on 21st of this month.
Miles: Talked to Talen at cultural center and buses have begun to stop. There is a FRAM tour for tour bus drivers. Jessie Holmes will do dog sled demos down at river bank, and Miles is working on putting signage up on walking trail to identity different foliage. Tourism meeting @ parish hall 6pm tonight, and Talen will be opening railroad museum this summer.
