The Nenana Wellness Coalition is an alliance of representatives various community members that meets weekly help implement plans for improving the wellness and quality of life in Nenana
This week we had 6 participants, Mike Arena, Rosemary Allen, Jens Jacobsen, Patrick Manning, Bonnie Reed, Virginia Young, and Magen Spencer. This week we enjoyed goulash, Caesar salad, cheese with crackers, assorted nuts and homemade jam.

Introduction of Guests:
The living center will be open for another year, then will revisit afterword’s to talk about the future of the living center. There is no money to pay for the living center building and the bank was going to foreclose.
There was talk to giving the living center students an event to help give information about things going on in the community. The first two weeks for the living center is when the largest amount of students go home. A new study has showed that students who are involved with music, sports, and church groups have a higher GPA than other students.
There is an ice cream social happening the first day of school in the evening for a meet and greet with students, teachers and parents.

Jens: School is getting ready for the students. In-service is next week for the teachers and resident advisors. August 21, 2018 is the first day of school. Tentatively planning a meet and greet in the morning to welcome all students. Then all students K – 12 will gather together and give updates.
Bonnie: Veterans stand down August 25, 2018 for homeless veterans at the pioneer park civic center. August 8 free day at the Tanana Valley Fair, for seniors. September 8, 2018 is the train trip to Denali National Park for 25$ per person. The train picks up people at the Nenana Train Station and drops them off later than evening. If you would like to go on the trip, call Vicky at the Senior Center and sign up. August 19, 2018 is the city assembly meeting at the multipurpose room in Rec Center. August 22, 2018 is the Nenana Native Council Meeting.
Virginia: Everything is going to start wrapping up at her peony farm. They were able to sell over 10,000 stems this year. The Nenana Native Council got a grant to install ramps on elder’s homes. Bahia Children’s Class is every Wednesday starting at 3:00pm and ending at 4:00pm. 4
Rose: August 28, 2018 is the presentation of the stages of change from Rosemary Allen.
Mike: Tanana River has gone up approximately a couple feet, however, the forecast does not estimate flooding in Nenana.
Patrick: Thursday, Jens will be showing an animal at the fair at 6:30pm. He and his wife have been adjusting well. They are temporarily living at the living center until they can find another place to call their own.
