Nenana Wellness Coalition

The Nenana Wellness Coalition is an alliance of representatives from various organizations, government agencies, community groups and individuals that meets weekly to discuss, evaluate, coordinate, consolidate, celebrate, masticate and help implement plans for improving the wellness and quality of life in Nenana Alaska.
This week we had Bonnie Reed, Jens Jacobsen, Mike Arena, Brianna Ketzler and her two boys, Magen Spencer, Michael, Tim Horn and Mike Anderson stopped by to give a quick update.

Smoke-Free Ambassadors was added to the agenda
MINUTES: The minutes generated last week were posted at the WIN link at www.railbelt.org and submitted electronically to the WIN e-list.
INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS:
The Tanana Valley State Fair is going 100% smoke free. They are looking for volunteers to volunteer a 3 hour shift. These volunteers will be going around the fair letting people know about the smoke-free fair. If you volunteer, you will get free-entry to the fair for the day you are volunteering, a food voucher and an appreciation goodie bag. Magen: Derek has started his new job in Fairbanks.
Brianna: August 3, 2018 there will be a lock-in at the rec center. This is a sleep over so please bring jammies and blankets. Permission slips are available at the rec center. This is for all ages between 5 – 18 years old. She, and a couple others from Nenana are going to the education summit at the Tanana Chiefs Conference. Rec will be closed august 6 – august 10.
Bonnie: Tanana Valley Fair Wednesday. Farmers market is open Saturday between 10am and 2pm. There will be a back pack blessing at the St. Marks church on August 19 at 11am.
Jens: The first school boarding meeting with the new superintendent is scheduled for august 8 at 6:30pm. August 21, 2018 is first day of school! There is a tentative ice cream social on the first day of school, it would start at 5:30pm until 7:30pm. Junior High has been fundraising for their trip to Washington DC. Soccer starts August 1, 2018. The coaches are Alexa Caulkin and Meghan Nyquist. There is no longer an early release day. The new schedule is school starts at 8:00am and ends at 2:30pm every day.
Mike Arena: His daughter is coming back up for a visit soon to help with the radio station.
Tim: Children’s class is every Wednesday, right now, starting at 3pm and ending at 4pm, except on the days there is children’s class.
