Virginia reported that October 22 is the bicentennial celebration of the birth of Bahá’u’lláh, the founder of the Baha’I Faith. There will be commemoration and celebration in the multi-purpose room at the Head Start building beginning at 2:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.
Mary that the Meda Lord senior housing center is “getting full” with 2 new residents scheduled to move in. She reported that current activities taking place at the center are card night 2 times a week, and gentle yoga classes once a week. As there was low attendance at the yoga class they are looking to change the schedule in the hope that more people can attend. She also said that many of the residents enjoy watching TV and doing jigsaw puzzles in the evening. Community members are welcome to join in any of these activities.
Sharon reported that she is involved with the Governor’s council for the homeless. We had a discussion on the homeless population in Nenana and she is interested in finding out more about this. She also commented that this summer her grandchildren participated in the Cultural Camp sponsored by the Nenana Native Council. Rosemary reminded everyone that the next meeting will be held at the Nenana Fire hall and we will receive training on simplified CPR and the proper way to administer Narcan.
