August 15, 2017
The Nenana Wellness Coalition is an alliance of representatives from various organizations, government agencies, community groups and individuals that meets weekly to discuss, evaluate, coordinate, consolidate, celebrate, masticate and help implement plans for improving the wellness and quality of life in Nenana
This week we had 9 participants and 4 children join us for the health challenge presentation: Laura Hokenson, and her son Max, Derek Ketzler and Magen Spencer with their 2 nephews and Michael, Bonnie Reed, Tim Horn, Kristi Dugan, with her son, Amie Verhagen and Virginia Young. We enjoyed a roast with potatoes and carrots, assorted nuts, and crackers with cheese.
WELCOME and READING OF MISSION STATEMENT: By this week’s chairperson:
SPIRITUAL MOMENT was led by Kristi Dugan
PRESENTATION OF AGENDA AND CALL FOR MODIFICATIONS:
Introduction of Guests: Laura’s son Max
Amie and Kristi did a presentation on the heath challenges they sponsor. These challenges consist of a complete life change, and not just steered toward losing weight fast. Their challenges consist of 7 major pillars: Nourishing Diet, Rejuvenating Rest, Increasing Knowledge, Moderate Movement, Positive Spirit and Mind and Increasing Knowledge. These 7 pillars are designed to achieve maximum health for your body and soul. They encourage everyone who is thinking of joining to get to know your body and figure out what works for you.
How their health challenges work are based off of a point system. When you get a full nights rest, you get points, when you eat vegetables you get points, etc. Once you reach a certain amount of points, you can start winnings money.
The next upcoming health challenge should be taking place in September. They are not sure of the exact date yet. They are now working with a company in California for their website and designing an APP. They just did a trial run and it seemed to have worked out well. They encourage anyone who is interested to contact them by going to their Facebook page: The Healthified Life to learn about the upcoming events and asking questions.
