The Nenana Wellness Coalition is an alliance of representatives from various organizations, government agencies, community groups and individuals that meets weekly to discuss, evaluate, coordinate, consolidate, celebrate, masticate and help implement plans for improving the wellness and quality of life in Nenana Alaska.
WELCOME and READING OF MISSION STATEMENT: By this week’s chairperson: Rosemary Allen started the meeting at 12:15 after a lunch of chili, corn bread, oranges, cheese and crackers and nuts and raisins.
There were 7 coalition members in attendance: Bonnie Reed, Natalie Chong, Laura Hokenson, Mary Alexander, Virginia Young, Laura Hokenson and Rosemary Allen

PRESENTATION OF AGENDA AND CALL FOR MODIFICATIONS:
MINUTES: The minutes generated last week were posted at the WIN link at www.railbelt.org and submitted electronically to the WIN e-list.
INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS: There are no guests this meeting.
Choose Respect: Maryellen reported that the Choose Respect March will start at the Nenana school gym at 11:00 am and there will be a dinner at the Nenana tribal hall at 6:30 on Monday April 3. They will have a couple of speakers presenting.
Health Fair: Laura reported that everything is ready to go for the Fair. She will be in charge of setting up at 2pm on Thursday, and the fair will open for blood draws at 7:00am. The students will begin showing up at 9:00am.
Laura – No updates
Virginia Young – Co-Op Extension sent the Native Council Packets of 17 varieties of garden seeds. They will be giving them away on Thursday the 30th. Anyone can come and pick the seeds they want and they will be put in small bags for individuals.
Mary Alexander – She reports that her son, Wes Alexander Jr. has been appointed the Rural Energy Specialist. She has missed several WIN meetings as she has been babysitting in Fairbanks.
Maryellen Robinson – HB63, a bill for Clean Indoor Air, has passed the Senate. This bill, if passed will ban smoking in all businesses in Alaska. There is a School Board work session tomorrow at 6:30 pm and the regular School Board meeting next Wednesday, April 5 at 6:30pm. The Choose Respect march will be Monday the 5th starting in the school gym at 11:00am. There is also a community dinner at the Tribal Hall at 6:30pm all are welcome.
Bonnie Reed: April 14 is the Community Pride and Village Safety meeting at the Tribal Hall and 6:30pm.
May 5 is the Ice Watch Picnic at noon on the river bank.
