Nenana Wellness Coalition

The Nenana Wellness Coalition is an alliance of representatives from various organizations, government agencies, community groups and individuals that meets weekly to discuss, evaluate, coordinate, consolidate, celebrate, masticate and help implement plans for improving the wellness and quality of life in Nenana Alaska.

We enjoyed fresh hot lasagna, Ritz crackers with sliced cheese, watermelon, and fresh chocolate chip cookies for lunch.

PRESENTATION OF AGENDA AND CALL FOR MODIFICATIONS: no changes were made

Dancing In The Streets: It is scheduled for Friday, September 23th, at 5pm. We have contracted a band who has agreed to come play live music for us. They are all people in recovery from addiction and they play some gospel, a little blues, and some rock and roll. The community dinner will be around 5PM. We want to have an Open Mike for people who want to speak about their experiences with addiction or recovery. Looking for an inspiring speaker to share their story of recover. Maryellen has a few ideas, but would welcome anyone else’s ideas as well. Music from 7PM-11PM. We have someone who is willing to donate moose for moose soup.

Bonnie: September 2 is the last chance to put in applications to run for City Assembly, or School Board. September 3rd is the last day for the Saturday Farmers Market. September 10 is the train ride. It is to and from Denali Park. The cost is $25. If interested you need to contact Vicky at the Senior Center before September 7th. September 11-16 Katherine Brower, from the Water Shed Council, will be in Nenana doing a training on recycling.
Maryellen: PINK started meeting for the new school year. They meet on Sundays at 2pm in the RMHA office. There is an interior coalition meeting in Fairbanks September 9th at 12pm. 4th floor conference room at TCC. You can also call into the meeting Internally at TCC dial extension: 3975

Natalie: She moved classrooms to across the hall from the 5th/6th grade room. Phlight Camp for the elementary will be September 29- October 1. There will be an overnighter on the 30th.
Jeanie: Penny Forness is back home. She is still pretty sick, but has support to help her with the every day things.
Jim: Where is everyone? His wife and himself are looking at a property near Nenana.
