Nenana Wellness Coalition
July 21, 2015
The Nenana Wellness Coalition is an alliance of representatives from various organizations, government agencies, community groups and individuals that meets weekly to discuss, evaluate, coordinate, consolidate, celebrate, masticate and help implement plans for improving the wellness and quality of life in Nenana Alaska.
We had nine participants today: Kat McElroy, Miles Martin Jeannie Bennett, Bonnie Reed, Tim Horn, Amie & James Verhagen, Virginia Young and Rose Allen. We enjoyed hearty beef stew, mixed garden salad, and Ritz crackers with sliced cheese for lunch.
WELCOME and READING OF MISSION STATEMENT: By this week’s chairperson, Jeannie Bennett.
SPIRITUAL MOMENT: Miles Martin lead us in a moment of silence to reflect upon our thoughts.
PRESENTATION OF AGENDA AND CALL FOR MODIFICATIONS: There was no official agenda today as Kat’s computer is experiencing malfunctions.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Posted at the WIN link at http://www.railbelt.org and submitted electronically to the WIN e-list with no reported issues.
INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS: No new guests today
Envisioning Wellness: To the best of our knowledge Paul Verhagen has scheduled August 4th to present to us on Emergency Preparedness.
This engendered a short discussion about disaster awareness. We explored some of the emergencies we might experience in Alaska. Also looked at how the dynamics would be different here than in the Lower 48.
